BE GUIDED BY THE WORD, BE LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
Verse 2: He makes me to lie down in green pastures:
He leads me beside the still waters
Based on the relationship between the Lord and the servants the next step will become easy as servants are commanded to obey their masters in all things. (Colossians 3:22)
The second step on this pathway leading to the rest of God is found in our willingness to lie down and be led as the master instructs us by His word.
The statements He makes me to lie, He leads me tells us that on this journey the LORD becomes the captain and general who directs us in everything.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God they are the children of God. (Romans 8:14) Children are made to sleep, sit and eat as their parents or guarding’s instructs them for their own good though they may not understand at the time. Can we become as those children whose Lord makes them to lie and lead them?
You will see that He makes them to lie down in green pastures and makes them lie down beside the still water where they can be comfortable and grow healthy.
Because children are totally helpless and depends on their parents or guarding’s to survive so are we asked to totally depend on Him by following His instructions. (Mark 10:15, Matthew 19:14)
For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good pleasure. (Philippians 2:19) We are led because he works in us. For in Him we live and move and have our being. (Acts17:28)
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
We live for Him, so as children and their parents we obey Him for our own good.
Jesus Himself as a Son learnt obedience from what He suffered. (Hebrews5:8)
Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself; He can do only what He see He Father doing, because whatever the Father does, the Son also does. (John 5:19)
Our journey to the greener pastures of refreshing and the still waters of no trouble can only be made possible through our obedience to His words, we must be guided and be led by Him.
His words our guide and commandments our delight.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I ask you to lead me and guide me from hence forth, give me the grace to be obedient as a servant and a child whenever you beckon on me, to go or come, to wait or move, lead me in the pathways that leads to rest for my soul in Jesus name.
